Nook Color + Cyanogen 7.1 + Zoodles = Perfect Kid Tablet
You will need the following things:
- A 1, 2, 4 or 8GB MicroSD card.
- A PC capable of accepting and reading/writing to that microSD card.
- An installed copy of Win32DiskImager.
- A Barnes & Noble NOOK Color running 1.2.
- Cyanogen 7.1
- GAPPS (Google Apps)
- Clockwork-3.2.0.1
Turning the NC into tablet:
- Extract the contents of Clockwork-3.2.0.1 to your hard drive.
- Open Win32DiskImager and open your image file with it. Select your SD card from the dropdown, then hit write.
- Once the write is finished, move Cyanogen 7.1 and GAPPS (Google Apps) to the MicroSD. Don’t extract the zip, just move it.
- Insert the MicroSD into your Nook Color and power on the NC it should boot to ClockworkMod Recovery.
- Hit the volume +/- to navigate menu entries, and press the silver “n” button to select Install zip form sdcard, choose zip from SD card, select the CM7FILE.zip and confirm..
- When you’re done, press the power button a few times to go back to the main menu.
- Go to “wipe data/factory reset.” Once done go to CACHE and ADVANCED -> DALVIK CACHE. Remove the MicroSD and reboot.
- Once at the home screen, run ROM manger (you might get a super user request, give it) and flash ClockworkMod recovery. Select Nook Color.
- Reboot into Recovery, the NC it should boot to ClockworkMod Recovery.
- Insert the MicroSD into your Nook Color again.
- Hit the volume +/- to navigate menu entries, and press the silver “n” button to select Install zip form sdcard, choose zip from SD card, select the GAPPSFILE.zip and confirm..
- When you’re done, press the power button a few times to go back to the main menu remove the MicroSD and reboot.
- At this point, you should have a rooted NOOK COLOR running CM7.1 with gapps.

Modifying the UI:
- Go to market place and install Zoodles and Flash, you will need a gmail account.
- Setup Child Lock under Parent Dashboard which locks down the “N” button.
