eyeOS – Cloud Computing Operating System
An open-source browser based web desktop. Full documentation, download, and community support are provided.(PHP5) eyeOS uses partly PHP (on the server side) and JavaScript on the client side. Of course client side JavaScript is in any case inherently open source. A simple server installation will give your own personal web os which is interesting because if you have access to the php files you can actually customize your operating system while it is being used. The PHP files are just text, meaning it is rather simple to make changes to the system. This has important implications for the development and openness of the system. It means that it is possible to have a community of people borrowing code from each other, cutting and pasting, and learning, much in the same way people view the source of web sites they are visiting.
